Bulk material handling specialist acquired

WORLEYPARSONS has acquired a Canadian-based bulk material handling and transportation specialist in marine, port, resource and mining.

According to the company, Westmar Consultants will be completely acquired by 30 June 2008. The acquisition is expected to complement WorleyParsons’ existing materials handling and transport capabilities in sulphur and coal.

Other services provided by Westmar include port and terminal planning and design, maritime and offshore structure, industrial structures, bridges, site development, utilities, and inspections.

WorleyParsons will probably inherit Westmar’s clients, including Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, and Western Canadian Coal.
