Collaboration beyond trucks

CSIRO and the Logistics Association of Australia (LAA) are running a course in May on the science of logistics.

The ‘Integrated Logistics and Supply Chain Management’ course will take place in Sydney on 28 to 30 May 2008, and will bring together logistics researchers with supply chain and logistics executives in Australia.

Speakers include Lew Roberts and Professor John Bartholdie from the Georgia Institute of Technology in the US. Local speakers from the University of Wollongong and CSIRO will also be present.

According to CSIRO, choosing the correct option within a vast array of choices is a key issue in managing logistics. The solution has to encourage collaboration to result in value.

The LAA claims everyone in a firm contributes to the supply chain, even though logistics and supply chain specialists are the ‘custodians’ of the pipeline.

The course will also focus on innovations in supply chain and logistics and how to manage supply networks in an integrated way. This event is part of the Australian Innovation Festival.
