ABB will supply controls, drives, motors and other equipment to Woodside’s $12b Pluto Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project in Western Australia.
According to the company, it has been supplying equipment to Woodside since 1983, and this latest slew of contracts is worth over $64m.
ABB will supply switchgears, transformers, analysis systems, instrumentation, motors and machines, electrical network monitoring and control systems; along with three LCI variable speed drives for compressor applications.
The machines and motors, drives, instrumentation, electrical network monitoring and control systems and analysers will be supplied by the company’s offices around the world.
The Pluto LNG Project will consist of an LNG processing facility on the Burrup Peninsula. The gas will then be transported onshore via a pipeline from the Pluto gas field.
The project is forecasted to produce 4.3m tonnes of LNG per year, injecting around $28b into the Australian economy over 30 years.
