Joint venture awarded license for Queensland gas pipeline

THE QUEENSLAND Government has awarded Central Queensland Gas Pipeline a 45 year licence to build and operate a point-to-point gas pipeline from Moranbah to Gladstone.

The licence PPL121 was awarded to the joint venture company by the Queensland Minister for Mines and Energy, Geoff Wilson.

Central Queensland Gas Pipeline is a 50/50 joint venture between Arrow Energy and AGL Energy.

According to the companies, the construction of the pipeline will see an investment of around $500m in Queensland’s gas infrastructure, as well as a number of employment and business opportunities.

The pipeline will allow Arrow to exploit its coal seam gas resources in the Bowen Basin region, and connect the North Queensland Gas Pipeline to the existing state gas transmission network.
