FLSMIDTH Minerals and Siemens will engineer, manufacture and supervise the installation of major components of a Western Australian magnetite handling and processing plant and port infrastructure.

The Balla Balla project, commissioned by Aurox Resources, is valued at $603 million, and expected to be operational by 2010. It will process 5.5 million tonnes of magnetite per year, with expandable capacity.

FLSmidth will be responsible for the complete plant, including a gyratory crusher, a semi-autogenous mill, a slurry pipeline flange, a pipeline output at Port Hedland, and dewatering and transferring equipment.

Seimens will engineer, manufacture and install electrical infrastructure for the plant and port handling facilities, including gearless mill drives.
