Monadelphous wins $100m worth of handling contracts

MONADELPHOUS Group has been awarded $100m worth of new contracts by BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto.

Monadelphous will be working on two dragline shutdowns for BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance at its Blackwater coal mine. It will also fabricate and construct a radial stacker for the Peak Downs coal mine.

In Gladstone, Queensland, Rio Tinto has awarded Monadelphous a package of work to install an Automated Alumina Delivery System at the Boyne Smelter Development Project. The company will also construct a Coal Handling Preparation Plant and associated coal handling plant for the Rio Tinto Clermont Mine Project.

In Western Australia, Monadelphous has been awarded a contract with BHP Billiton Iron Ore for structural and mechanical pre-works at Nelson Point as part of its Rapid Growth Project 6.

According to Monadelphous, all the projects will be completed in the second half of calendar 2009, while the Boyne Smelter work will finish in the second half of 2010.
