QWM celebrates 50th anniversary, moves to new premises

QUEENSLAND Weighing Machines has celebrated 50 years in the weighing industry by purchasing new premises at Geebung, Brisbane.

The new building will house QWM’s weighbridge manufacturing, a large service organisation and an administration department. It will also serve as the head office for Accuweigh’s Queensland operations.

QWM was started in April 1959 by three ex-Avery Scales personnel, Garry Barnett, George Kelly and Peter Slocombe. According to QWM, it quickly grew, and is now the manufacturer of Australia’s strongest weighbridges.

Clients of QWM include road authorities like NSW’s RTA and SA’s DTEI. In 2003, QWM was purchased by Accuweigh, and operations were recently merged.
