RCR TOMLINSON and Laing O’Rourke say BHP Billiton Iron Ore has contracted the joint venture to design and construct primary and secondary crushing facilities, including overland conveyors.

The $150m for BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s Rapid Growth Project 5 in the Pilbara will see the LORRCRPT joint venture starting design work immediately, with construction completion by the first quarter 2011.

The LORRCRPT joint venture also has a strategic supply agreement with BHP Billiton Iron Ore to supply apron feeders for new projects in the next five years.

The RCR and Laing O’Rourke joint venture provides turnkey design and construction, including civil, mechanical and electrical/instrumentation works.
